Rabies Direct Fluorescent Antibody (DFA) Test
The direct fluorescent antibody test on fresh brain tissue (brainstem, cerebellum, hippocampus) is the WOAH and WHO reference method for rabies. Apple-green inclusions with valid positive and negative controls confirm rabies antigen; positive results are reported to public-health and veterinary authorities at once.
Guideline: WOAH Terrestrial Manual Chapter 3.1.19 Rabies (adopted 2023); WHO Laboratory techniques in rabies, 5th ed. (2018)

Speak patient details or findings, e.g. "patient name Ravi Kumar, age 45, mobile 98765 43210, species bovine (cattle)". Or tap the small mic beside any box to fill only that box, then tap the next box's mic. Your browser asks for the microphone only once. Fill from microscope photo
Hold the phone camera to the eyepiece, use a microscope camera, or upload an image. AI suggests findings; nothing is filled until you tick and accept. Photograph only the smear - no patient labels.

AI differential interpretation
Use AI interpretation in the lab workspace (staff sign-in)Reads the findings you typed, spoke or filled from microscope photos. Decision support only - the verifying pathologist / microbiologist decides.

Smear Camera — teach STAINIC to read Rabies DFA
Snap the smear, film or microscope field with your phone camera, or upload a microscope camera image. Photos help STAINIC learn stain patterns so it can suggest findings in future.
Mobile data / Wi-Fi
Each photo (1-12 MB) is uploaded over your internet connection. On mobile data this uses your data plan and may incur charges; prefer Wi-Fi for many photos.
How AI will use photos
Photos are kept in a separate STAINIC image library (not your storage quota) to build future recognition models. When you tap "Suggest findings", the photo is also sent to an AI model, over the internet, which proposes values; nothing is filled until you tick and accept them.
Disclaimer
Photograph only the smear / film / field — never patient names, labels, faces or documents. Photos are not linked to any patient. AI suggestions are decision-support only and must always be verified by a qualified pathologist; they are not a diagnosis or treatment advice.
